Dave, Founder
Dave Kaplan has been working full time in the crypto legal space since early 2018 and has over 19 years of legal experience that includes 8 years serving as a General Counsel. Apart from his work at DK Law, Dave is currently the General Counsel for Nibiru, a developer and user-friendly layer-1 blockchain with innovation at each layer of the stack, including decentralized app development, infrastructure, and consensus. Nibiru is supported by prominent backers including NGC Ventures, Tribe Capital, Kraken Ventures, Hashkey Group, and others.
Through late 2024, Dave was a senior attorney at Horizons Law, a full-stack crypto services firm, where he assisted and advised hundreds of crypto clients of all sizes on corporate structuring, fundraising, token launches, DAO setup and governance, and product compliance. Previously, he served as General Counsel to Advanced Blockchain, a publicly traded incubator and venture investor in the web3 space that during his time there built a team of over 200 at its height.
Dave began working in the crypto space while General Counsel at AXEL, where he guided the launch of its novel blockchain and app, combining masternode technology with the InterPlanetary File System as the foundation for a privacy-focused data sharing solution.
With an engineering degree and extensive experience as a tech focused attorney, Dave is passionate about using law as a tool to unlock the potentials of web3, and helping clients accomplish their goals efficiently. He spent nearly a decade as a full service intellectual property attorney at a top U.S. firm, and has handled everything from billion dollar litigations as well as patent and trademark prosecution work.
He is admitted to practice in Nevada, New Jersey, and New York, and is a registered patent attorney. In addition to crypto and intellectual property, Dave is also well versed in attorney ethics. He is an appointed member of the Disciplinary Committee for attorneys and has served as an expert witness in a legal malpractice lawsuit related to crypto.
